Nagaland’s Pencak Silat contingent continued its strong showing at the Khelo India Beach Games 2026 with two athletes advancing to their respective finals, while another secured a silver medal despite being unable to compete in the gold-medal bout.

Nyia K Thon has entered the final of the 60–65 kg weight category and will fight for gold on Friday. In the 90–95 kg category, Kitenlo Thono also made it through the rounds to keep Nagaland in contention in the higher weight division.

In the women’s 50–55 kg category, Hateninem Khongsai reached the final but had to settle for silver after she was unable to compete in the decisive bout due to a high fever.

A total of eight Pencak Silat athletes from Nagaland — four men and four women — are competing at the Games, taking part in both individual and team events.

Meanwhile, Nagaland’s campaign in Sepaktakraw saw mixed results. The state has been knocked out of the men’s and women’s team events. However, in the women’s quad event that began on Thursday, Nagaland opened with a victory over Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu before suffering a defeat to Odisha in the league matches.

Nagaland is taking part in the Khelo India Beach Games 2026 with a 35-member contingent, including 30 athletes and five support staff, competing in Pencak Silat and Sepaktakraw at Ghoghla Beach, Diu. The Games conclude on January 10.
