Dimapur, July 16 (MExN): “With 59 medals, the Nagaland Pencak Silat team secured the 1st Runner’s-up trophy at the 6th North East Pencak Silat Championship held at Sarusajai Indoor Stadium, Guwahati, Assam, from July 12-14.
Nagaland’s medal haul comprised 28 Gold, 16 Silver, and 15 Bronze medals.
According to a press release from the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association (NPSA), a total of 680 athletes from the region competed across various categories including Sub-Junior, Pre-teen, Teen, Pre-junior, Junior, and Senior, encompassing both male and female competitors.
Assam emerged as the overall champion, with Manipur securing the 2nd Runner’s-up position.
The Nagaland team was led by NPSA President Khevishe Sema, Vice-President Hetoi Sema, General Secretary and Head Coach Deep Kumar, Referee Tiayanger Imsong, and Kuhoshe Chishi.”
