The Nagaland Pencak Silat Team at the 2nd Khelo India Beach Games 2026 in Diu.
Diu, January 10 (MExN): The Nagaland Pencak Silat Team scripted history by securing the position of 2nd Runner’s-up in the discipline at the 2nd Khelo India Beach Games 2026 in Diu.
Nagaland secured three medals, comprising two Gold and one Silver, in the Combat Match category (Tanding). The medal winners are: Kitenlo K Thono and Nyia K Thono – gold medal, and Hatneinem Khongsai – silver medal.
The Nagaland Pencak Silat Association expressed gratitude to the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, Kethosituo Sekhose, and his department officials. It also thanked Chef de Mission Jakpolong Alinger and Liaison Officer Lokivi Assumi for their consistent support and guidance.
The Association extended appreciation to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for including Pencak Silat in the Khelo India Games, providing a national platform for athletes.
The Khelo India Beach Games, organised by SAI under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, saw participation from around 1300 athletes from 31 States and Union Territories competing across 8 sporting disciplines over six days at Ghoghla Beach, Diu from January 5 to 11.
