Kohima, June 15 (MExN): Nagaland Police will organise a 5-km Awareness Run in Kohima on June 26 to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with the objective of raising public awareness against drug abuse, promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging collective action towards a drug-free Nagaland.
The run will commence at 6 am from High School Junction and conclude at the Police Headquarters (PHQ), Kohima. Around 500 to 700 participants are expected to take part in the event.
According to the organisers, registration and assembly will begin at 5.30 am, followed by a briefing and safety instructions at 5.50 am. The run will be flagged off at 6 am and is expected to conclude by 7 am.
An anti-drug pledge will be administered at 7.15 am, followed by the prize distribution ceremony and closing remarks at 7.30 am.
Cash prizes have been announced for various categories. In the Men's Open and Women's Open categories, the winners will receive Rs 5,000 each, while the runners-up will receive Rs 3,000 each. The Under-15 category (boys and girls) and the Above-50 category will carry a first prize of Rs 3,000 each.
In addition to the cash awards, winners will receive Certificates of Achievement signed by the Director General of Police, Nagaland.
Participants may register online through the designated registration form or opt for on-the-spot registration at the venue.
The event is being organised by the Superintendent of Police, Narcotics and Prohibition, Police Headquarters, Kohima, under the theme, “One Run, One Voice, A Drug-Free Nagaland.”
