KOHIMA, OCTOBER 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Police has urged all vehicle owners and driving licence holders in the state to ensure that their mobile numbers are updated on the Vahan and Sarathi portals of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the police informed that users must add or update and confirm their mobile numbers through an Aadhaar-based authentication process for both registered vehicles and driving licences.
According to the advisory, individuals can complete the update themselves by visiting the official website https://parivahan.gov.in, where two options are available — one for the Vahan portal (https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/mobileupdate/) and another for the Sarathi portal (https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/mobNumUpdpub.do).
Users are required to enter their details, including their mobile number, and authenticate it through a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the Aadhaar-linked number. The police also advised completing the process on both Vahan and Sarathi portals to ensure proper linkage.
It further stated that during routine Motor Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) exercises, Nagaland Police personnel will assist vehicle owners and drivers who need help updating their mobile numbers on the portals.
Emphasising the importance of the update, the notice cautioned that failure to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, could attract penalties under the relevant sections for corresponding offences.
The public has also been reminded to ensure that the mobile number updated on both portals matches the number linked with their Aadhaar to complete the authentication process successfully.
