Nagaland presents Kayakalp Award for 2021-22, 2022-23

Department Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland today presented Kayakalp Award for the financial year 2021-22 and 2022-23 in the category of best District Hospital, Primary Health Centre, Community Health Centre, Health & Wellbeing- SC, Eco-friendly Award including commendation for Urban Primary Health Centre.

Kayakalp-A Clean Hospital Initiative award has been accorded to Public Hospitals to incentivise and recognition of ‘Exemplary Performances.’ The award was handed over by Minister for Health & Family Welfare, P Paiwang Konyak during award ceremony held at Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DH&FW), Kohima.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Kayakalp Award is one of the most important initiatives under the National Health Mission, launched by the Government of India. He said that Kayakalp program envisage in promotion of Cleanliness and Hygiene, Enhancement of Quality of care, and Infection Control Practices as a critical part in all Hospital.

With the introduction of this initiative in the state in the year 2015-16, one of the main benefits that the medical fraternity have seen is, boosting the involvement of the community in the activities of the Health Units in the form of timely social work and contribution in cash and kind towards the improvement and upkeep of the health facilities, the minister said.

‘Let us work towards improving our health scenario’

Over the years, Paiwang said, the success of this initiative have hinged on the improvement of the Public Health Services in terms of Cleanliness of Public Hospitals, infection prevention control and thus created demand generation towards the public health institutions from the beneficiaries and also enhanced the commitment of the service providers.

He lauded all the team members of the 163 health units which have been felicitated today, for their commendable job. He appealed all health units to continue working relentlessly towards the betterment of the public health service.

The Minister also thanked the community for their continued support towards the medical department, “as health is everyone’s concern.” 

The programme was chaired by Dr E Motsuthung Patton, Director, H&FW while Dr Ritual Thurr, Principal Director, H&FW delivered welcome address. Keynote address was delivered by Dr Manyaii Phom. V Kezo, Commissioner and Secretary, H&FW shared a short speech. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tetseo, Director of Dental H&FW.
