Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) has endorsed the recent decision of the Phek Town Public Forum (PTPF) to put on hold all taxation to the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) from 2026, describing it as a “defining and courageous step.”
In a statement issued through its Media Affairs, the CNCCI stated that the resolution and decision would significantly ease the burden on the business community while also protecting consumers across all sections of society.
According to the chamber, the decision deserves acknowledgement and support from every Naga and should serve as a challenge and example for other towns and districts to follow.
The apex trade body further said that the decision should be viewed by the NPGs as a “wake-up call,” observing that at no point have the Nagas “mandated the existence of multiple and ever-growing factions claiming to represent one Naga aspiration.”
Such public resolutions, if viewed positively, the CNCCI said, could encourage the NPGs to come together, thereby strengthening the Naga national movement.
With unity, the public will be more willing to shoulder the movement voluntarily and in good faith under the banner and slogan of “One Government, One Tax,” it added.
