Nagaland shooters to represent India at international benchrest championship

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 30 (MExN): Nagaland shooters Dr Kerheho Kera and Kevipozu Hibo of the Nagaland Benchrest Shooting Club have been selected to represent India at the International Benchrest Shooting Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 3 to 6.

The championship is being hosted by the Indonesian Shooting Association.

The two shooters were felicitated at a send-off programme held ahead of their departure. Speaking at the programme, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) Abu Metha congratulated Kera and Hibo and wished them success at the international competition.

Metha, who is also President of the Athletics Federation of India, Secretary General of the Nagaland Olympic Association and President of the Northeast Olympic Association, encouraged the shooters to make the most of the opportunities available in sports while representing the country.

Kera and Hibo secured their places in the Indian team under the selection guidelines of the Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Shooting Association of India (RABSAI), following their performances at national-level competitions, including their tournament scores and consistent participation.

The Nagaland shooters are part of a four-member Indian contingent that also includes Divyana Vij and Subhanshi Verma. Hina Vij and Rajat Vij will serve as contingent officials.

The send-off programme celebrated the achievements of the two shooters and conveyed best wishes for their participation in the international championship.
