DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (MExN): The Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, will observe International Museum Day 2026 at the State Museum on May 18 in line with the global initiative of the International Council of Museums.
According to a press release, the theme for International Museum Day 2026 is “Museums Uniting a Divided World,” highlighting the role of museums in promoting cultural dialogue, preserving identity, encouraging knowledge-sharing, and fostering peace and harmony among diverse communities.
To mark the occasion, the Department announced free entry for all visitors to the State Museum on May 18 and 19. Students, scholars, researchers, educational institutions, tourists and the general public have been invited to visit the museum and experience the cultural heritage, traditional artefacts and historical collections preserved there.
The observance aims to encourage greater public engagement with museums and create awareness about the importance of preserving and promoting Nagaland’s cultural heritage for future generations.
