Nagaland students shortlisted for national INSPIRE MANAK competition

Kohima, March 30 (MExN): The State Level Exhibition and Project Competition (SLEPC) and mentoring workshop under the INSPIRE MANAK scheme was organised by SCERT Nagaland in collaboration with National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Gujarat and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi at SCERT, Kohima on March 27.

Awardees from the 2023–24 and 2024–25 sessions representing schools from Dimapur, Kohima and Mokokchung participated, though two students could not attend.

The evaluation panel comprised Dr Thingujam Jackson Singh, Head of Mechanical Engineering, NIT Dimapur; Dr M Prakash, Head of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NIT Dimapur; and Er Dipjyoti Choudhury, Junior Associate, NIF.

Based on innovation and novelty, four students were recommended for the national-level competition in New Delhi: Ninile Tenenu (Mt Hermon School, Kohima), B Sunga Phom (Azedon School, Kohima), Latongkumla and Wapangla Imsong (both from KV Tuli, Mokokchung).

Depending on their performance, they may also qualify for the Sakura Science High School Exchange Programme. Previously, two students from Nagaland were selected for the programme in Japan.

SCERT director Kevirale-ü Kerhuo encouraged the awardees, while additional director Kerüüpfeü Rüpreo urged them to further refine their projects and appreciated the support of teachers, evaluators and partner organisations.

Two additional projects from Little Star School, Dimapur and Azedon School, Kohima will compete under the Technological Innovators category.
