Nagaland: Swachhatta Hi Seva in Tuensang

Tuensang, September 17 (MExN): The Swachhatta Hi Seva movement was launched by Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang L. Jamithung Lotha at Government Higher Secondary School Tuensang organized by DWSM, PHED Tuensang and sponsored by WSSO PHED Kohima.  

In his speech, the DC said that 80 % of people in Nagaland have improved in their personal hygiene and home hygiene but lamented that people still lack the knowledge of segregating biodegradable and non-degradable waste which become the main source of environmental pollution. He encouraged the students to cultivate the habits of segregating waste and decomposed biodegradable waste for further use.  

Er. Subonyanger, Executives Engineer PHED, Tuensang division in his keynote address highlighted the objectives of Swacchhatta Hi Seva movement. The main objective is to get involved with the community services to clean the village, schools, public places, offices etc and create awareness on sustainability on sanitation. He also highlighted some of the IEC activities in Tuensang district.  

The programme was chaired by Ashale Seb, IEC Consultant PHED Tuensang. Sentilo Seb, Pastor, Tenyimi Baptist Church Tuensang invoke God’s blessing for the Programme.
