Thejasetuo Kaco: Is Nagaland a dry state? Yes. Why? Read on to know why I feel that way.
"Restaurants raided in Dimapur" read one of the headlines in one of the local dailies. My first reaction was "What the *bleep*? Not again!" Apparently, the raid was conducted by a joint team of excise, narcotic cell and police on some restaurants and lounges.
Now, I wonder, why were only 5 places raided? Is it because the excise, narcotic cell and police don't know that alcohol or, to make it sound more official, IMFL, is sold in many restaurants and almost every lounge in Dimapur and Kohima?? Are they retarded?
Or is it because the 'Unlucky' proprietors of the restaurants and lounges didn't give them enough "tax"??
What are they trying to prove by conducting raids? Is it to tell the people that alcohol is prohibited? Or are they trying to warn the other proprietors "You'll be next if you don't keep us *Happy*"??
The "joint team" can ask any young guy where liquor is sold if they so dumb! Ask me!
Raid all the so called hotels @Eros Lane(Dimapur), the "Paan" shops in Jail Colony(Kohima) and hundreds of other places.
Everyone knows that Nagaland is the 'wettest dry state' in the world. Why don't the government just lift the prohibition?
I always thought that dry state meant 'No Alcohol'. I guess I was wrong. I think 'dry state'(in terms of Nagaland) means NO WATER for the public. It makes sense. So many people have to buy water since taps are dry.
Nagaland is truly a dry state. *The End*
(I've to go fetch water from my neighbour's well)
Raitu Tisoser Haralu: Nagaland gate, before crossing the gate. The old lady is up 24/7. Anytime she is game!
Kilangla Ajem: If church was serious about making Nagaland a dry state for real than they would have done something or the other of all the liquor joints by now! Their whole purpose of making Nagaland a dry state is frivolous and they are clinging on to prohibition act to nourish their over towering ego!
Samuel Vio: Americans did their best to make Prohibition work but finally they gave up because it was not possible to legislate morality. As you were saying to Niketu Iralu, it is upon the people to decide themselves' whether or not they will drink and NOT for the State or the Church to pass Laws to forcefully prevent people from drinking.
Victor Dzüvichü: LET THE BATTLE BEGIN -
So much said about the Total Liquor Prohibition Act since a decade and yet Nagaland still continues to be the WETTEST DRY STATE where liquor is more easily available than drinking water, and the TLP Act has no intention of leaving the state. A dry state where one out of every two family struggles with a drinking problem. I am convinced 1 out of 5 of us has lost a family member to liquor addiction(I have lost a handful of them, much to my dismay). Our Government has become a scapegoat reeling under the pressure of dissatisfying and offending the so-called ELITE organisations. At this rate, I say, Nagaland will one day rank top as the most hypocritic Christian state.
Its time the Government lifted this Hypocritical Act, and the churches instead of lamenting and head butting into the state affairs, drew out their Bibles and prepared themselves for the battle. Every heroic story; be it in the Scripture or any other literature ends with the triumph of good over evil and Nagaland just happens to have the perfect script for the perfect battle, the only problem being the heroes are more concerned about outreach mission fields, relief works to other countries, to put it more precisely they are just relaxing on the sidelines, watching the city burn and rot with every imaginable evil. Preaching and teaching other people about a cause, which our own family members are struggling to follow, My! My! Aren't we the greatest Hypocrites!?
Dear Sirs and Madams, I say, lift the TLP Act, please understand charity begins at home, minimize on the Outreach Mission, our people are bleeding, we need healing! We call ourselves a Christian state, Let's start living to that name and I believe with God on our side, We shall overcome, I believe we have and serve a Great God, the GOD OF IMPOSSIBLE!
Lima Aonok: Yo Theja! From the very beginning I was against this prohibition, you know why? "HYPOCRISY"
Raithu Newmai: The department was just reminding the people that they do exist. Otherwise it is business for everyone as usual. By the way, what did they do with the proprietors summoned? Are they not suppose to be behind bars as per the act? Why let them go with a warning? Very funny, I guess warning means they have paid their tax due.

Peter Rutsa: A story and a discussion that has moved me this new year -
A senior citizen I visited last night told me the story of a Naga officer and his son's conversation after a visit to an old age home at Kohima, where the boys grandfather was being kept by the family(Seems they visit every weekend).
'Daddy, when you grow old and stay in that place, I am going to visit you EVERYDAY'! It seems the boy’s father could not sleep that night and the next morning he went and removed his father from the home. The senior citizen who told me this story is a personal friend of the boy’s father. Now the boy and his grandfather are together under one roof :-)
While sitting with a Naga officer from the Lotha community at his residence on some personal work. I happen to ask him Sir, do you have any plans to join politics after your retirement? He replied. 'Peter I think I will worship my God after my retirement'! I believe by 'Worship his God' he meant spreading the good news :-)
