Kohima, June 14 (MExN): Nagaland will be participating at the 34th Senior National Wushu Championship 2025 starting from June 14 to 19 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Nagaland will be represented by two athletes Mankho T. Konyak and Nupa Kiho.
Mankho T. Konyak will compete in the 52 kg category, marking his third appearance at the national championship.
Nupa Kiho will participate in the 56 kg category. This will be his second time competing at the national level, having reached the pre-quarterfinals in his previous appearance. The team is being led by RK Shanti Kumar as coach, and Akhozo as team manager.
Ahead of their departure for the meet yesterday, the players met at the airport by officials from the Youth Resources & Sports Department, including Deputy Director Jakedovo Chase and Assistant Director Nyuvitho Nyuthe.
The officials extended their best wishes to the athletes and called upon them to remain focused, disciplined, and determined, reminding them that they carry the pride and aspirations of the entire state on their shoulders.
Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA) president Kudecho Khamo in his message also motivated the players, urging them to give their best performance and uphold the values of sportsmanship and discipline.
He encourage the duo to fight with pride for the honour of the state.
According to Rajasthan Wushu Association president Hiranand Kataria, around 1,200 players from across the country are expected to participate in the championship.
Earlier this year, the 18th State Senior Wushu Competition was held in Pushkar from March 21 to 23, with 250 players from 23 districts taking part, as informed by Organizing Secretary Vinay Mehra.
The championship is being organized by Wushu Association of India in collaboration with the Rajasthan Wushu Association.
