Nagaland to take up rubber plantation on large scale

In view of the vast potential and high interest of the people, the state’s land resources department intends to take up rubber plantation on a large scale in Nagaland. Under rubber development plantation scheme, the department has so far developed about 2000 hectares in the state with fund provided by NABARD under various branches of RIDF.

Source said most of the plantations have attained tapping stage and the growers have started getting return. During 2010-11, an extension of 625 hectares has been taken up at the cost of 250.00 lakh in Wokha, Mokokchung, Dimapur, Longleng, Mon and Peren district under RIDF-XV.
