Nagaland: Twin fire incidents gut four residential houses in Mokokchung town

A second fire incident happened in Mokokchung town on September 16 evening when four private residential houses were completely razed down. The cause of the fire, casualties or injuries, if any, and the quantum of loss incurred could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.  

Fire fighters and volunteers were actively engaged in dousing the fire but the best they could do was to stop its further spread.  

The razed houses were located behind Supong Shopping Mall, near Mokokchung Police Station 1 at Sangtemla Ward.  

Onlookers claimed that they heard at least four domestic LPG cylinders burst. The fire broke out at around 7:10 pm and firefighters and volunteers were still on site till the filing of this report.  

Earlier in the evening, in a minor fire accident, the kitchen belonging to the caretaker of the BJP Mokokchung office located at IM Road, Arkong Ward was partially damaged.  

However, it was brought under control after timely intervention of the personnel of Nagaland Fire & Emergency Services. The fire, cause of which could not be ascertained, broke out at around 5:00 PM according to onlookers.  

The kitchen was located adjacent to the BJP Mokokchung office. No injuries or casualties were reported.
