Sovima, October 27 (MExN): Nagaland registered a commanding 10-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy (Plate Group) U23 match held from October 26–29 at the Sovima Cricket Ground.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for 142 in 63.2 overs. T. Jacob top-scored with a patient 48 off 173 balls, while Nagaland’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout. Anil Gupta led the attack with an impressive 5/37 in 19.2 overs, supported by Neizekho (3/9) and Kelhousilie Zaputou (2/40).
In reply, Nagaland posted 204 in their first innings, securing a 62-run lead. Keneizetuo Rio anchored the innings with a composed 53 off 144 balls, and Kavito contributed 43 from 82 deliveries. For Arunachal, Amarjeet Sharma claimed 6/68 in a spirited effort that prevented a larger deficit.
Arunachal Pradesh faltered again in their second innings, collapsing to 68 all out in 33.2 overs. Only Leki Tsering (21 off 43) offered brief resistance as Nagaland’s pace duo continued their dominance. Neizekho produced a devastating spell of 6/8 in 10.2 overs, with Zaputou taking 2/13.
Needing just seven runs for victory, Nagaland openers made quick work of the chase in two overs, with Rio (5*) and Mughavi Sumi (2*) guiding the team to a 10-wicket win.
