Nagaland ULB polls: NSCW lauds courage and dedication of women candidates

KOHIMA, JUNE 13 (MExN): The Chairperson and members of the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) today extended best wishes and congratulations to all the 238 women who have filed their nominations for the upcoming urban local bodies (ULB) elections in Nagaland.

Civic polls are scheduled in Nagaland with 33% reservation for women on June 26. 

“This election scheduled for 26th of June 2024, mark the first implementation of the reservation after a 20 years hiatus. Your participation is a testament to your courage and dedication to public service,” the NSCW stated in a press note. 

The Commission also expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland and the people of the State, especially to the male counterpart for their ‘unwavering support and cooperation in facilitating this significant move.’

“By creating opportunities for women to engage actively in political spheres, we are collectively taking monumental steps towards empowering the women of our State and fostering a more inclusive political landscape, the NSCW stated. 

“Your commitment is inspiring, and we wish you all success in your political endeavours, it added.
