Nagaland University, Bangladesh explore academic collaboration opportunities

KOHIMA, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): An interactive session between the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, and Zikrul Hasan Fahad, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Guwahati, was held on December 10 at the SET Seminar Hall.

The programme began with a welcome address by Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, Prof N Venuh, who reiterated the university’s commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships. He underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in science, engineering and technology to address shared developmental and environmental challenges in the region.

Prof Sujata Dash, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, also welcomed the guests and made a detailed presentation on the School’s departments, ongoing research projects and academic initiatives. She highlighted potential areas for collaboration between Nagaland University and universities in Bangladesh, including joint research in sustainable engineering, renewable energy and environmental management; student and faculty exchange programmes; cross-cultural internship opportunities; a collaborative Master’s programme in Disaster Management; and jointly organised workshops and technical seminars.

During the interaction, Fahad appreciated the university’s initiative and expressed support for establishing academic linkages with leading Bangladeshi institutions. He noted that areas such as student exchanges, internships, joint research and a collaborative Disaster Management programme offer promising avenues for cooperation.

Prof Nigamananda Das, Department of English, shared that international students from Bangladesh are already pursuing higher studies and research at Nagaland University, reflecting the institution’s growing global engagement. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof Prabhakar Sharma, Head of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Technology.
