Nagaland University SAS observes anti-ragging week

School of Agricultural Sciences at Nagaland University (NU: SAS), Medziphema Campus, observed Anti-Ragging Week from August 11 to 18.

Medziphema, August 21 (MExN): The School of Agricultural Sciences at Nagaland University (NU: SAS), Medziphema Campus, observed Anti-Ragging Week from August 11 to 18, organising a range of awareness activities under the banner #YaARIYouthAgainstRagging.

The week commenced with an inaugural programme featuring the Nagaland University anthem, an invocation, and addresses by key officials including Prof J Longkumer, Associate Dean, and Prof Dipak Sinha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor. The session highlighted the consequences of ragging and concluded with all students taking an anti-ragging pledge.

A series of interclass competitions were held throughout the week to creatively engage students on the issue. These included poster making, essay writing, slogan writing, debates, skits, and video reel making. Winners were announced in each category, with themes focused on creating a safer campus and addressing the effects of ragging.

The valedictory programme on August 18 featured addresses by Prof L Daiho, Dean, and Prof Dipak Sinha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, reinforcing the importance of a safe and welcoming campus environment, especially for new students. A video of anti-ragging messages from the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dean, Associate Dean, Wardens and students were showcased, followed by prize distribution.

Additional sensitization efforts were carried out by the PhD Forum in hostels, and the newly elected SAS Students’ Union has committed to continuing anti-ragging awareness activities. The observation of the Anti-Ragging Week was coordinated by the office of the Associate Dean, Students’ Welfare, Nagaland University, Medziphema campus.
