Nagaland University Students’ Union Lumami (NUSU-L) successfully organised a Table Tennis (TT) Championship on November 1 at the Lumami campus, marking the first occasion where students, faculty, and staff competed together. The event, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, aimed to promote Table Tennis and foster sporting spirit on campus.

The competition featured three major categories for both men and women: Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Throughout the matches, players displayed impressive skills, tactical awareness, and sportsmanship. Winners and runners-up in each category were awarded cash prizes at the conclusion of the event.

The valedictory programme was graced by Dr Monalisa Tase, Assistant Professor of Political Science, who described the tournament as a historic moment for the university.

She highlighted the value of sports in instilling discipline, respect, resilience, patience, and teamwork.

Drawing parallels to military training, Dr Tase noted that sports cultivate adherence to rules and perseverance, and encouraged participants to face challenges with a winning mindset and give their best in every endeavour.

Delivering the vote of thanks, NUSU-L President Toito V Zhimomi expressed gratitude to all players and the audience, remarking that the championship would serve as a foundation for future sporting events under NUSU-L.

The Table Tennis Championship was widely regarded as a resounding success, fostering camaraderie and community spirit among the university fraternity.
