SVEEP on Clean Electoral Roll and Clean Election held at Suruhoto town
Suruhoto, December 9 (MExN): Taking measures to ensure free and fair election in Suruhoto, the Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Malli, IAS on Thursday announced that ‘if any village declare 100% to any candidate or any political party that particular village will be blacklisted and stern action will be taken against those particular villages.’
The DC Zunheboto was addressing a programme on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) on Clean Electoral Roll and Clean Election at Suruhoto SDO(C) office on December 8, stated a DIPR report.
Among others, the programme was attended by SP Zunheboto Vishal Chauhan, IPS, GBs and village council chairman, colony GBs and chairman of Suruhoto town, all unit officials of recognised political parties under 33 AC, various NGOs and CSOs.
Stating that during elections, the DC is “directly under Election Commission of India and not the state governments,” Malli requested the people to be violence free and ‘If violence happens, he will have no option but to take action against anyone,’ the DIPR report stated.
The DC along with the SP have already started checking vehicles coming from other districts to stop illegal flow of liquor and abusive substances entering Zunheboto district, Malli added.
Meanwhile, he requested the legal arms licence holder to submit their gun and informed that those who submit their gun this time, their licence will be renewed for next year.
Echoing the voice of the public, Tokiho Awomi, head GB Phuye Old said, “People of Suruhoto wants clean and peaceful election” and requested the DC and SP not to allow any anti social element or underground faction to disturb the election or election process. He also reiterated the villages not to declare any village as 100% as it does not fulfill the criteria of Clean Election. Surumi Village Council, chairman, Vitoi Awomi was vocal about Clean Election in Suruhoto and wanted all political leaders not to bring any abusive substances to any villages or towns as it will spoil the Clean Election environment. He encouraged the gathering not sell their voting rights to any political parties or person.
SP Zunheboto Vishal Chauhan, IPS in his speech said that the main aim for them for this election is “to make it violence free, and free and fair election.” The SP requested the people to corporate with the administration and appealed everyone to work hand in glove with administration so that no violence takes place.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Athrong, SDO HQ (additional charge Suruhoto), invocation by Pastor SBAK (Aizuto), vote of thanks by Hotoshe, Principal, Mount View School Suruhoto and benediction by Pastor (Nitomount) Suruhoto town A- Khel Church.
