Nagaland wins 2nd National Level Red Ribbon Club Quiz

Kohima, March 31 (MExN): In the recently concluded 2nd National Level Red Ribbon Club Quiz competition at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Tripura on March 24, the participant from Nagaland H Viputo Yeptho, B.Sc (Botany) 4th Semester and Red Ribbon Club member of Kohima Science college, Jotsoma has emerged as the national winner. 

The felicitation programme was organized by Nagaland State AIDS Control Society at Kohima Science College (KSC), Jotsoma on March 31, stated a press release. 

Addressing the programme, Dr K Vikato Kinimi, Director (Health), Project Director NSACS congratulated the winner for bringing laurels to the state in particular and to the Northeast and the whole of the Eastern Region of India in general by winning the prestigious 2nd National Level RRC Quiz Competition. 

Dr Vikato highlighted about the high HIV prevalence rate in the state especially among the young people, therefore encouraged the student to join the Red Ribbon Club movement and be the agent of change; in reducing HIV prevalence rate in our state. 

Felicitating the winner with certificate and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director, IEC NSACS shared about the event of the competition. She highlighted that the competition was participated by the winners of the four regional level quiz competitions from the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Nagaland.  

The programme was moderated by Lhouti Tsuzuh of M.Sc 4th Semester (zoology). It was attended by about 900 participants comprising of NSACS officials, faculty members, staff and the students of the Kohima Science College, Jotsoma.

During the National Level Quiz competition, the 2nd prize was bagged by Rajasthan, 3rd prize by Maharashtra and 4th prize by Chandigarh. The Red Ribbon Club Quiz Competition had 5 levels of competition: District level, State level, Sub-regional level, Regional level and National level, organized under the aegis of National AIDS Control Organization, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
