Kohima, September 16 (MExN): A team of students from Nagaland has won the ‘Best Project of North East’ title at the recently concluded Techniche Science Fair held in IIT, Guwahati from August 30 to September 2.
A press note received here stated that Techniche is an annual techno management festival which aims to provide a platform for young and aspiring students of the country to showcase their projects. As a part of its annual techno-management festival Techniche, IIT Guwahati hosted TechExpo - a national science competition which helps students explore their vision and curiosity through science.
The team of four students of Science Club representing Kohima Science College Autonomous attended the four-day long Techniche Science Fair held in IIT, Guwahati and bagged the title of ‘Best Project of North East’ for their proposal of Gynotox Botanical Pesticide.
The Gynotox Botanical Pesticide project is the brainchild of a team of Zenwang Konyak, Menthsoju K Mongzar, Khrade Veso and Pushi P Khiamniungan, all final year Botany honors students at Kohima Science College.
“This project aims to reduce pest organisms in vegetable crops, ornamental flowers in garden etc which is environmental friendly and will lead the path for organic food,” the release informed.
The winners were awarded with certificate, trophy and cash prize on September 2.
Another student, Veseizo 5th semester, Botany honors also participated in the App Development workshop.
The judges comprised of different fields and discipline Kshitiz Anand mentor NITI Aayog CEO Happy Horizon, Trust Social Entrepreneur, Manfred Krammer, Head of Department of environmental Physics, Michael Barratt, Astronaut NASA.
It may be mentioned that Nagaland team received their mentoring support from Dr Sachin Kumar, Asst Professor IIT Guwahati. They were the only team representing the state of Nagaland and their participation was funded by the principal of Kohima Science College.
