KOHIMA, AUGUST 24 (DIPR): The Nagaland Women Commission Bill 2006 was passed on the concluding day of the twelfth session of the 10th Assembly today at Kohima. The Bill was introduced on the first day of the session by State Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, wherein he stated that with the constitution of the Commission, the status of women in Naga society would be strengthened.
From the date of commencement of the Act, the state government shall constitute the Nagaland Women Commission within three months, to perform assigned functions.
The Commission shall consist of a Chairwoman and two women members to be nominated by the state government, who shall be persons of eminence with sufficient knowledge and experience in women-related issues.
