Officials of the Nagaland Wrestling Association with representatives of affiliated and provisional affiliated units after the coordination meeting in Kohima on August 3.
Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) on August 3 held a coordination meeting of its executive office bearers and representatives of affiliated and provisional affiliated units to review preparations for the 6th World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan and the National Games 2027.
According to a press note issued by the NWA Media Cell, the meeting was held at the NWA office on Secretariat Road, Kohima.
The 6th World Nomad Games will be held at Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, from August 29 to September 7, while the National Games 2027 are tentatively scheduled to be held in March next year at Shillong, Meghalaya.
The association said a 10-member Indian contingent, comprising four wrestlers and six officials, will participate in the Belt Wrestling discipline at the World Nomad Games.
The wrestlers representing India are Huluyi D Vadedo and Kivenu Puro in the men’s category, and Vikehenuo Zumu and Haizuyile in the women’s category.
The NWA also noted that Naga Wrestling has been officially included in the Demonstration Sports Programme of the 6th World Nomad Games.
Regarding the National Games 2027, the association said the Government of Nagaland, the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the NWA will jointly co-host the wrestling events in Nagaland, while the Meghalaya Olympic Association and the Government of Meghalaya will host the Games.
To prepare for the event, the NWA said an intensive training camp for selected freestyle, Greco-Roman and women’s wrestlers will begin on August 15 and continue until the conclusion of the National Games.
The meeting welcomed the initiatives of the Government of Nagaland, the Nagaland Olympic Association and the Nagaland Wrestling Association, and assured full support and cooperation for the successful conduct of the upcoming events.
The meeting was attended by NWA executive office bearers and representatives of affiliated and provisional affiliated units.
