Nagaland’s citizens quite unsure of their safety

Dimapur, Oct1 (MExN): The public do not have much confidence on the government to provide security to the public, according to a recent poll conducted by the Morung Express.

Thirty five percent voted in favor of the government, while, forty-four percent expressed their inconfidence on the government, while a whooping twenty percent remained undecided on the question of ‘whether the state government is capable to provide security to the public’.

Those who have confidence in the government gave the reason that the government had no option for the sake of winning the next election, while others were happy with the government which they think is much better than the last government.

Those having no confidence in the government minced no words as they expressed their displeasure over the constant extortion, killings and lawlessness which according to them are the order of the day. They also cited the bomb blast in Dimapur a few years back.  The movement of armed underground cadres freely in the streets. The actions of the IRB personnel were also one of their reasons. One voter expressed that the politicians are only concerned about ‘their families, properties and themselves’.

It may be mentioned that the Morung collects opinion from the people on different topics to create awareness among the people in the state.
