Jonathan Rongsen and Khrievitso Kense included in squad
Dimapur, September 4 (MExN): Kick-starting the 2022-23 domestic season, the squad for North-East team has been announced with Nagaland’s Hokaito Zhimomi as captain.
Two other players from the state - Jonathan Rongsen and Khrievitso Kense, are also included in the squad for the first-class tournament of the season.
The announcement was the outcome of a four-day conditioning camp for the North-East zone hosted by the Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) from September 1 to 4.
The North-East team comprising of the six states- Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland & Sikkim, and is the first-ever Duleep Trophy for the team after being affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to a press release from the NCA, the trophy will be played in Chennai, Pondicherry, Coimbatore and Salem with the final to be held in Coimbatore from September 21 to 25.
Six Zonal teams-North, South, East, West, Central and North-East zone will be competing at the trophy.
Players for the North-East Zone were represented by: Hokaito Zhimomi-Captain (Nagaland), Jonathan Rongsen (Nagaland), Khrievitso Kense (Nagaland), Muhammed Al Bashid (Manipur), L Kishan Singha (Manipur), Bishworjit Singh Konthoujam (Manipur), Rajkumar Rex Singh (Manipur), Ashish Thapa (Sikkim), Ankur Malik (Sikkim), Techi Neri (Arunachal Pradesh), Techi Doria (Arunachal Pradesh), Dippu Sangma (Meghalaya), Kishan Lyngdoh (Meghalaya), G Lalbiakvela (Mizoram), Bobby Zothansanga (Mizoram).
The team is scheduled to depart for Chennai on September 5 and will to play its first match against the West Zone from September 8-11.
Support Staff includes, Dr Atul Gaikwad (Coach), Nanda Kumar V (Physio), Arzoo Raj (Trainer), A K Satish (Performance Analyst), A J Ajithkumar (Masseur) and Chiang D Shira (Team Manager).
