Nagaland’s India Skills 2025 inaugurated, features 26 finalists across three trades

KOHIMA, DECEMBER 6 (MExN): The inaugural programme of India Skills 2025, organised by the Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (DoESD&E), Nagaland, was held at its directorate on December 6.

The competition was declared open by Phuleshe K Yepthomi, Joint Secretary, Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, in the presence of DoESD&E Director Savio Visa and other officials. Yepthomi distributed uniforms and ID cards to all participants and encouraged them to compete in future events, including national-level competitions.

Joint Director DoESD&E Er H. Alongse appreciated the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship for funding the competition aimed at discovering youth skills and talents.

Parvin Yadav, State Officer of NSDC Skill India, urged participants to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the government.

Senior Lecturer in the Fashion Technology Department, A. Chubamenla, highlighted the vast employment potential in the fashion industry and urged youth to upgrade their skills by learning design and sizing using artificial intelligence (AI).

Assistant Programme Officer Menguzelie, who chaired the event, acknowledged the Ministry's support for the state government in hosting the programme. He noted that this was the second edition of the event after a seven-year gap.

The competition featured three categories: Graphic Design, Fashion Design Technology, and Restaurant Service. It was hosted by the Fashion Technology Institute, Government Polytechnic Kohima, GITI Kohima, Graphic Design Technology NEILET Kohima, and the State Institute of Hotel Management.

Participants included trainees from various district Industry Training Institutes (ITIs), Polytechnic Institutes, and SIMS Dimapur. A total of 147 participants took part, with 26 reaching the final round.
