A fashion shoot in the form of notebook entitled “Nagas & Fashion: A kaleidoscope” by Nola Longchar was released here today by L.H. Thangi Mannen, commissioner & secretary, industries & commerce.
Nola’s fashion shoot is based on the Naga textiles and ethnic wear in the form of a notebook. This work is all about styling with traditional elements, and from the models to the designers and the photographers. Releasing the book at the function held at The Orchid, Mannen said that Nagas have rich traditional and its exoticness is lacking in others. She said that refining is now a matter of concern and one need to focus on fabric, which gives comfortable to wear.
Nola Longchar said she brought out “Nagas & Fashion: A kaleidoscope” as a result of her curiosity and interest to explore the potential of ethnic Naga textiles and ornaments in the fashion scenario. Her objective was also to bring about awareness to the masses of the very talented local professionals who are venturing in to the fashion business and how “we can also explore and make use of our distinct and unique ethnic flavor and be as stylist and unique as the best of the rest.”
She is a graduate in Fashion Communication, NIFT- New Delhi, specializing in fashion styling. “Seeing that we Nagas are very into fashion and style and trends, also the fact that we like to adopt more of the western or other cultures, it struck me- what if our own textiles can be used and styled in a way that its different and unique and somehow bring out the individualism of each person!? What all can be done with our special craft that is so in demand in other parts of the world?” she said all these craved in her an itching, a drive to do a shoot exploring exactly that.
Narola also spoke on the occasion. Tetseo Sisters presented folk song. The function was chaired by Sentinaro Jamir while Dr. Akok Amer said invocation prayer.
