‘Nagas must first remove ‘ism’ from our society’

Western Sümi Youth Front general conference elects new executive members 

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The Western Sümi Youth Front (WSYF) held its general conference under the theme ‘Envisioning Beyond’ with S Toiho Yepthomi, MLA, Government of Nagaland as chief guest at Ikishe Village Baptist Church on August 1. 

The media cell of WSYF in a press release stated that speaking at the programme, the chief guest encouraged the former and present WSYF executive members to stand united in every aspect of life. He said that in order to envision our future we must first introspect and retrospect.

“We Nagas as a diverse society must first remove ‘ism’ from our society so that we all grow together. We must work together as a society so that we create a peaceful atmosphere amongst us and stand united so that our society moves forward along with the rest of the country,” he asserted. 

Encouraging the youths, the MLA said there is no shortcut in life and in order to achieve something and be successful in life one must work hard with determination and prayer. He encouraged the youths to always put God first in every aspect of life.

Rev Dr Phughoto Sema, Executive Secretary, WSBAK invoked the blessing upon WSYF executive members, both former and newly elected. Shikaho Zhimomi, President WSH and Vikuto Achumi, President WSKH delivered the greetings, special song was presented by Vivi Yeptho, Rev Dr Ahoto Chophi, Ikishe Village BC, Pastor pronounced the invocation and Jacob Achumi, SBCD Asst. Pastor pronounced the benediction. The programme was chaired by Otoka H Yeptho.

The representatives of the Units under WSYF, the executive members of Sümi Officers’ Union Dimapur (SOUD), Western Sümi Sports Association (WSSA), Western Sümi Totimi Hoho (WSTH), Western Sümi Hoho (WSH), Western Sümi Kükami Hoho (WSKH), Western Sümi Students’ Union (WSSU) led by their presidents attended the programme.
WSYF new executive members elected

Meanwhile during the programme, the Western Sümi Hoho (WSH), Vice President, Vikato Achumi announced the newly elected WSYF elected executive members, where former vice president WSYF, Otoka H Yepthomi was declared as new President of WSYF.

The newly elected executive members, WSYF 2023-2026 include President-Otoka H Yeptho; General Secretary -Atokiho Swu; Joint Secretary-Ato Shohe; Vice President Mobilization- Boto Chophy;  Secretary Mobilization-Ikato Zhimomi GB; Vice President, Skill Development & Statistics & Data-Ikato Awomi; Secretary, Skill Development & Statistics & Data-Botoho Achumi; Vice President, Sports & Culture-Piwoka Chisho; Secretary, Sports & Culture-Vinoto Awomi; Vice President, Finance & Accounts-Kakiho Awomi; Secretary, Finance & Accounts-Toikhu Chophy; Vice President, Women Wing-Ikatoli Achumi; Secretary, Women Wing-Shikani Awomi and Central Executive Council Members.
