Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): HDFC Life, one of India’s leading private life insurers, today opened its first branch in Nagaland at Dimapur in the presence of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Moangwati Aier and Debotosh Purkayastha, Associate Vice President & Regional Manager (RM) of HDFC Life.
“Nagas do not save, even less invest,” Moangwati said speaking on the occasion as chief guest. A note received here stated that the DC regretted that people in the state had very little culture of saving money. “Even rarer are people who invest for the future,” the district’s top bureaucrat said. Citing an instance, the DC believed most Nagas would find ways to spend all of 10,000 rupees if it came to them as some kind of a bonus. Those who got a few lakh rupees would invest in some second hand car, he said. He regretted that a large section of these same people would be soon burrowing money to fill petrol to run these cars.
Debotosh, who was joined by Aklanta Protim Dutta (Territory Manager) and other senior managers from Guwahati, said the opening of a branch in Dimapur was a bold step considering the challenges the industry currently faced. He expressed hope that more concrete developments would take place here when business picks up.
Earlier in the progamme, Nyimbeni Patton Sapriina, Branch Manager of Dimapur said HDFC Life has begun in a modest way and expressed hope managers working in her team would bring in good business. Saphrulie Solo, Associate Pastor, Spirit of Faith Church, Dimapur dedicated the office premises. Today’s function was held at HDFC Life’s new branch at Dimapur located at Nagarjan Junction within the “KE Complex”. Financial Consultants and well wishers joined in the ceremony.
HDFC Life, one of India’s leading private life insurance companies, is a joint venture between Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), India’s leading housing finance institution and Standard Life plc, the leading provider of financial services in the United Kingdom.
