MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu on January 22 said that Nagas have a common dream and a shared responsibility to come together as one entity.

Addressing the 21st Veikhang Katamnao Long General Conference-cum-Sports, Cultural and Literary Meet 2026 at Ukhrul in Manipur, Nienu said that South Nagas and Nagas of the mainland need to foster a better and more cordial relationship.

“Our emotional integration itself is not enough and the same is not serving its main purpose of a greater Nagaland,” he said, adding that there was also a need to encourage physical and spiritual integration.

Urging the people to commit their plans to God, the MLA cited Proverbs 16:3, which states, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” He lamented that people were depending too much on their own strength and dominance over one another.

Emphasising the importance of values, Nienu said that the legacy one leaves behind is more important than the position or status one holds, as positions are temporary and soon forgotten. “However, the good legacies we leave behind will live and be remembered forever even after our death,” he said.

He challenged the congregation to leave behind a legacy that would be loved, remembered and cherished.

The MLA also encouraged Naga national workers to live up to the expectations of the general public by coming together under one umbrella with “one group, one voice and one tax.”

Referring to the Naga political issue, Nienu said the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), headed by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, had on January 17, 2026, decided to adopt a more honest approach to address the issue and try to bring it to a logical conclusion, provided the national workers cooperate and are willing.
