Are we Nagas standing in the 21st century or in the late 1920’s or 30’s in the Land Of Festivals??? What was wrong in the Bikini Round of Miss Dimapur contest 2012. Why there is a fever of it in the elders mind!!! Have Nagas girls no rights to take up modeling as their career??? Why are the elders and educated people distracting them from their goal??? Why there was a huge uproar because of the bikini round???Why???Why are people commenting against it???
What is beauty if it’s not admired by the people??? Didn’t the people who are against it read in their junior classes “beauty is to be admired”??? If they did, why are they against of the talented Nagas girls competing for the Miss Dimapur contest 2012 for the bikini round. This is the first time this round was included but I don’t accept the elders going against it.
Did Nagaland produce any Miss India, Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss Asia and Miss Pantaloon etc??? I am definitely sure as of now, not yet!!!! Why??? Think about it, those who are against it!!! Nagas girls have the upper hand in beauty, anatomy but still now they didn’t win even a major title. Does not our opinion create a negative mind set on the beauty contestant? Don’t they have the desire to win a major title in the career they choose??? Don’t they want a career on it??? Why are we criticizing for a photo shoot that include wearing a Bikini? Is it correct??? If it is correct to criticize. I would ask how and why??? It was just a swimsuit round, not a photo shoot for nude pictures or a porn movie. Every beauty contest in the outer world got a swimsuit round, than why not Miss Dimapur/ Nagaland??? Why???
Why are we Nagas so selfish??? Why don’t we want our brothers and sisters to climb ahead of us??? Why do we pull them down??? Those people who are against, don’t they want a Naga girl to win the Miss India title or any major title??? If they say no, I would say you don’t have any right to go against their dreams, their career!!!
If the bikini round should be canceled in the coming beauty contest then I would ask those against it, to stop acting as they are advance in these modern era. I would say "Stop dressing up as Korean’s, stop thinking as Americans. Better be a pure Naga like the 1940's". Technology invades and if we don't accept to the changes, one does not have the right to live in the 21st century. Wake Up!!!!! We are in an era of Science and Technology!!! If in the advance countries a girl can- live, walk, do everything, wearing their bikini, why can't the Naga girls give a photo shoot in a Bikini??? Why are people against this!!!
Those people who are against it, did they never saw the Duchess of Cambridge, all the leading celebrities in Bikinis??? If the advance people are never against it, why are the Naga brothers and sisters against it??? If those people criticizing don't want to end up their traditional culture then why are they changing their life style?? Why are they taking a part???WHY??
'Culture- tradition' and 'Technology-fashion' are two opposite sides of a coin. We can choose one at a time not both! Make a proper mind set and take the one you think you are capable of!!! Don’t criticize others unnecessarily!!!
I as a 21st century student I don't see any negative or ill effects of a Bikini Round in the beauty contest in Nagaland. All the pageants deserve to show the world their beauty and achieve what they want to!!! For those criticizing the beauty pageants, go at the stage, and show us what you can do? I hope you would be ashamed before you stand up? Before pointing fingers think twice. Be happy that the beauty pageants started a new era in the history of Nagaland. "If you always look into the negative aspect you would never enjoy the beauty of sunshine". God bless us all!!!
