‘Nagas will decide their own future’

DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (MExN): In the struggle for realizing the aspirations of the Naga people, the Naga living in the present state of Manipur resolutely decided to implement the programs assiduously the standing declaration of the Naga People’s Convention adopted under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) on November 4, 2005.

The Naga people have anticipated the obstructive initiative of the state government of Manipur against the rightful cause of the Nagas stated K.S.Paul Leo, President UNC and Paulhring Langhu, President ANSAM in a press communiqué. The Nagas are very much aware of the evil game plan of the state government of Manipur in connivance with de facto elements to subjugate the democratic will of the indigenous people the release stated.

The recent statement of the Ibobi Singh, Chief Minister, Manipur which appeared in local dailies (May 20, 2006) and national dailies (May 19, 2006) warning the private schools of the four Naga Hill districts against introduction of prescribed syllabus of NBSE is an expression of his sheer helplessness stated Leo and Paulhring and added that the Naga people are not threatened by such irresponsible utterance rather strengthen the Nagas to vigorously pursue the steps to unify the Nagas across the territories. When the Nagas are determined to choose their future, why Ibobi Singh is sounding aggressive and bragging questioned Leo and Paulhring and added that Nagas are a free people and that they will decide their own future.

If the state government and any de facto element are determined to jeopardize the will of the Nagas to realize the aspirations, the UNC and ANSAM has stated, “the Nagas are determined millions time to unify the Land and the People. Nothing on earth can threaten and prevent the Nagas to achieve their just cause. The Nagas believe in the supreme will of the people and ultimately it shall prevail.”

The Naga organizations has warned that any agencies acting on the behest of the state government to undertake survey program in the four Naga districts will be held responsible for any consequences and shall strongly deal with for disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the Naga areas.
