Naonglemla W Chang was crowned Miss Chang 2023 at the ongoing Poanglum festival held at Parade Ground in Tuensang on January 12 last. Noksensangla and Imsujongla were crowned 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up respectively.

Naonglemla was also adjudged Miss Talented while Thonti Naro won Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality. A Sentila and Noksensangla won the title of Best Ramp Walk and Best Ethnic Wear respectively.

‘Country Boy’ Yemkong Somba, Tochi Chingmak and A Hemlem Sonla performed during the Miss Chang beauty pageant which was hosted by Kaimang Choba and Phoment.

In the formal event “Lamshok”, Throngso, President, Yimkhiung Tribal Council was invited as the tribal guest. In the event Yangpi village was given the award of Best Sochum by Dolem Thangjam Society under ECS.

Rev Noksen Ngamen, Women Secretary, Chang Baptist Lashong Thangyen (CBLT) pronounced the invocation prayer while welcome address was delivered by President, Chang Khulei Setshang. “Odang Onet” a folk song was performed by Konya Union, Tuensang town. Traditional dances were performed by cultural troupes from Chang Wedoshi Setshang, Pilashi Dancing Society, Tuensang village, Yali Saoshuong Thangjam, Tuensang town, Sangdak Union, Tuensang town and Noksen Saoshuong Thangjam, Tuensang town. Simultaneously, Poanglum tug-of-war and Poanglum fest was held at Sechung ground, Tuensang village and Chingmelen village respectively.

Street night carnival was also opened from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Tuensang town and Tuensang village.

In the folk fusion competition, which was sponsored and collaborated with Eastern Entertainment and Cultural Aesthetic Society (TaFMA Tuensang District Partner) Ngangpong village was declared winner, while Chongpho Khel, Tuensang village and Yungphaang village came second and third.
