Niuland, November 10 (MExN): The Niuland Area Sports Association (NASA) celebrated its 50th Golden Jubilee from November 3 to 8 under the theme “Hope, Peace, and Unity,” bringing together GBs, leaders, elders, players, and well-wishers from 22 villages under the Niuland Area at Hovishe Village Local Ground.
Isawoto Zhimomi, President of the Niuland District GB’s Association, graced the closing ceremony as Guest of Honour and congratulated NASA for completing 50 years of promoting sports and community spirit.
“This milestone is not only a celebration of sports but also of vision, perseverance, and unity,” he stated, paying tribute to the pioneers whose sacrifices and leadership laid the foundation of the association.
Highlighting the district’s progress, Zhimomi said Niuland District now comprises five major areas—Aghunaqa, Khaghaboto, Kuhuboto, Ato Area, and Niuland Area. He described the Niuland Area, which consists of 22 villages, as the “mirror and heart-touching route” connecting all Naga districts and neighboring states such as Assam and extending toward Myanmar.
He urged all villages to extend full cooperation to the district administration and called on political parties to work collectively for advancement in all developmental sectors, particularly sports.
Zhimomi expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, the Minister for Roads and Bridges (PWD), the Minister for PHED, Ghaspani-1, and the Advisor for Urban Development, Ghaspani-2, for their efforts toward uplifting Niuland District.
He said the Niuland District GB’s Association continues to maintain close coordination with the district administration, political leaders, law enforcement agencies, and the police to promote unity and strengthen the district’s development. Zhimomi also underscored the importance of sports in building discipline, teamwork, and responsibility among youths, encouraging players to embrace sportsmanship to lead positive lives and contribute to a peaceful and progressive society.
The Golden Jubilee grand finale featured the football championship match between P. Vizheto and K. Hetoi teams. P. Vizheto emerged champions with a narrow 1–0 win.
The Guest of Honour witnessed the final match and later presented prizes to the winners and runners-up, congratulating all teams for their performances and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude and reaffirmation of NASA’s motto—Hope, Peace, and Unity—as the association continues to inspire the youth of Niuland through sports and togetherness.
