Kohima: Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association (NASSA) celebrated its Silver Jubilee with the theme “Inspiring Aspiration” on April 30 at the Assembly Secretariat Complex, Kohima. Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly Chotisuh Sazo graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The chief guest unveiled the NASSA monolith erected in the Assembly complex. He said NASSA which was formed in 1988 has grown from infancy to adulthood at a tremendous speed and it has nurtured good leadership. He mentioned that NASSA has always been at the forefront in bringing justice during administrative loopholes in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Chotisuh urged NASSA to motivate the members to perform their duties in the highest capacity and that there is no substitute to hard work. He also encouraged the NASSA President and other leaders to live exemplary lives. He asked NASSA to keep in mind the greater interest of the office while protecting its members.
He also said “duty before self” should be the motto of NASSA and that by extending service and satisfying the needs of Members of Legislative Assembly, it is serving thousands of people in the state.
Deputy Speaker, NLA, Er. Levi Rengma told the NASSA to think of the significance of 25 years as a time to retrospectively assess oneself. He said “to deliver the goods, you must have ethical principles”, and added that if there is an inefficient Government the staffs also have certain responsibility. He urged the NASSA members to rededicate themselves for the service of the people.
Many MLAs also graced the occasion. Secretary NLA, A.E. Lotha, NASSA founding members, Pusanyü Angami and K. Teb also spoke in the function. State Chaplain Rev. K. Luruo gave the act of blessing. The programme was chaired by Rüsosuyi D. Vadeo while a brief account on NASSA formation was given by Advisor NASSA, Banjung Chang and President NASSA, T. Noksang Jamir gave the welcome address.
