National Edu Day observed

Dimapur, November 11 (MExN): November 11th, the birth day of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister and freedom fighter of India was observed by the students of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, as National Literacy Day in the college campus. Literary and Cultural competitions were conducted to mark the day. A press note issued by Rev. Fr. Jose Lukose , Principal St. Xavier College stated that a number of students participated in the solo, duet and choir singing competition. In the contest for Mr & Miss. Xavirite, Chandra was selected as Mr. Xavierire and Sanbile was crowned as Miss. Xavierite 2011. Rev. Fr. Antony Samy, Principal of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School graced the occasion as chief guest who appreciated the college for the outstanding performance and quality education imparted. The note also mentioned that Fr. Jose Lukose, the Principal of the College thanked the Cultural and Literary committees who arranged the function to mark National Literacy Day.
Meanwhile, the students and teachers of DPS Dimapur also celebrated the National Education Day on November 11, 2011 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of the First Education Minister of India Dr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. The students put up a brilliant cultural show with clear message to society about the importance of education and National Integrity. The students also remembered Maulana for his contribution to the education and freedom struggle. The Junior kids visited St. Joseph’s Children Home Burma Camp and shared the feeling of the less privileged ones on this occasion.
