Kohima, October 15 (MExN): A national seminar on the theme “History and geography of North- East India as crafted by 2nd World War was organised recently at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama. The seminar was organised by the department of history, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama. The inaugural address was delivered by chief guest Rentsamo Ezung, Rtd. Commissioner and secretary.
Ezung expressed his administration for the serene beauty of Kohima town before the 2nd World War and his bitterness of how the beautiful town was soon disfigured and distorted by the devastations brought by the war. He further added how Kohima was swallowed by the fast urban development and also he shared about his bitter experiences of the war. Keeping in mind the importance and relevance of history especially the 2nd World War and its impact on the society, the seminar was organised and attended by lecturers of various colleges and students alike. Scholars from various universities like Hyderabad University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Nagaland University gave their presentations.
The valedictory function of the seminar was graced by Rev. Fr. James Thopil, Bishop, Diocese of Kohima as the guest of honour. The seminar ended on the promising note, a release received here said today.
