Nat’l Nutrition Mission observed at Longleng

Longleng, September 21 (MExN): The celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Mission) for Longleng Block was observed at EBRC Longleng on September 17 with Dr. Wannau Phom MO, District Hospital Longleng as the resource person. The programme was attended by the Angawadi workers, helpers and ASHAs under Longleng circle.  

Dr. Wannau emphasized on nutrition deficiency diseases of children and pregnant mothers. He spoke on health care of a pregnant mother, breast and complementary feeding, Anemia, Hypertension, causes of low weight birth, and change of physical, mental behavior of a child during adolescent period and requirement of good balance diet during this stage. He also spoke on first aid, vaccines and MR Vaccination for children, stated a press release.  

In his keynote address, Y. Tauhong CDPO, Longleng said that National Nutrition Mission is a convergence programme of the Social Welfare and Medical departments and appealed for coordination of the Angawadi workers and the ASHAs at their respective places to provide proper nutrition and medical facilities to children and pregnant mothers. He asserted that the primary objective of the Angawadi workers and ASHAs was to disseminate the importance of nutrition for children and pregnant mothers back to their community for mass awareness. He appealed to the Angawadi workers for proper implementation of nutrition supplement provided by the department and to ensure that it reaches the targeted group.
