Kiphire, January 14 (MExN): A health awareness programme focusing on youth and adolescent health was conducted at Tütheze village under Longmatra Block on January 14. The programme was organised by Nature SBI Foundation, Kiphire. A total of 77 beneficiaries were registered during the event, while 12 participants received free laboratory tests provided by the visiting medical team.
The programme centred on the theme “Youth and Adolescence Health – Substance Abuse, Addiction and Mental Health.” The session was led and facilitated by Longtili C Sangtam, Project Lead, Nagaland, who guided the flow of the programme, encouraged interaction among participants, and highlighted the importance of safeguarding the health and future of young people.
The Medical Officer of Nature SBI Foundation, Kiphire, delivered the main address on the theme, explaining the causes and effects of substance abuse, the dangers associated with addiction, and the growing concerns related to mental health issues in rural communities. The officer emphasised discipline, early awareness and timely support as key tools for prevention.
The camp also offered basic health check-ups, medical consultations and counselling services for participants seeking clarity or guidance on personal and family wellness.
Village representatives expressed appreciation to Nature SBI Foundation for organising the programme and bringing such an important awareness initiative to the community. They also affirmed their support for more programmes aimed at empowering youth and protecting local families.
The programme concluded with group discussions, questions from young participants and a collective community pledge to remain alert, informed and united in the fight against substance abuse and addiction.
