Kohima, November 9 (MExN): The Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO) comprising of 32 villages on Tuesday issued a press statement to ‘declare and impose our non-cooperation to the Assam Rifles in line with Angami Youth Organisation’s (AYO) decision to non-cooperate with the Assam Rifles until and unless such detestable act of the Assam Rifles is stopped.’
The NAYO said that it once again condemns the ‘despicable and contemptible’ act of the 1st Assam Rifles who raided the house of Roko Angami at Zhadima village in the early morning hours on October 29 wherein “nothing incriminating were discovered and no such suspected evidence(s) which they were in-search were found.”
The organization resolved to “unanimously declare our non-cooperation to the Assam Rifles”, during the NAYO Presidential meeting on November 9. “Therefore, all our thirty two (32) Units, all our bonafide Youths under Northern Angami Area are hereby advised to shun or desist from participating in any activities — be it sports or any other events organised by the Assam Rifles until and unless justice is served to our leader,” it stated.
Further, NAYO also cautioned all its “affiliated units and bonafide youth members from propagating any false agendas and information that tarnishes our society and our unity. If any such units or members go against the unanimous decision of NAYO, such erring unit(s) or members shall be seriously dealt with under NAYO Yazhabo.”
Meanwhile, the NAYO also demanded the 1st Assam Rifles to “reveal the source and informant(s) of this questionable act of attrition. We demand justice. We demand the Assam Rifles to publicly declare their error and apologize for their act of attrition.”
