NBCC calls for 12 hours of fasting & prayer on April 30

Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has called for ‘12 hours of prayer and fasting’ from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on April 30.

In a press release on Tuesday, NBCC Executive Secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho called on the constituent churches and members to use the day “to lament our distress and unworthiness before the Lord, confess our sins, repent and commit ourselves afresh to the service of the Lord our God.”

May we use this 12 hours of fasting and prayer to intercede for each other, for our land, our leaders and our people, the release stated.

Requesting the churches to arrange the logistics on how to carry out the fasting and prayer day, the NBCC also put forward prayer points which included unity among the leadership of the church; the government, leaders and policies; the political parties in the State; the protracted Naga political issue and the leadership; as well as the leadership of tribal hohos, civil societies and student organisations.

It also called for prayers for the up-coming Election in 2023 and the Clean Election Movement; for missionaries; and for the persecuted church and the Christian minority who are often marginalized.

Stating that the lives of school going children have been interrupted for the last two years, it also sought prayers the children and the teachers; the youth; and the farmers as they are in the season of sowing and plantation.

Pray for the sesquicentennial (150 years of Christianity) celebration in Nagaland this year and the association leadership, local church leadership and village leadership, it said

Among others, it also sought prayers for the healing of Nagaland state; for world peace; and peace in the war torn countries of Russia and Ukraine.

Pray that God will be merciful and bring revival in our churches, the NBCC stated while requesting everyone to honor the day “so that God will listen to our plea and will rain His blessings to our land.”
