NBCC calls for ‘special prayer hours’ on May 22

Kohima, May 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) has called for all Baptists in the State to come together and set aside a ‘Special Hour of Prayer’ on May 22.

In a letter to the Executive Secretaries and Director of Baptist Associations under the NBCC, the General Secretary of the NBCC, Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho stated that in the midst of the devastating second wave of coronavirus in the country, the flood of new infections has already overwhelmed the healthcare system, putting a strain on the existing medical infrastructure.

The urgent situation demands rallying responses from all of us as believers, Rev Keyho wrote and called for a special hour of prayer on May 22.

The NBCC also provided a prayer schedule to be followed.

Prayer walk (4:00 am-5:00 am):  Church leaders have been requested to organize a ‘Prayer Walk’ which may culminate at the village gate or strategic point of township and pray for the protection of 'the people. Strict SOPs are to be maintained all the time, the NBCC directed.

Pastors of respective churches may coordinate with other denominational leaders and plan ahead by deciding on the suitable route to start and end together, it stated.

Family prayer (6:00-7:00 pm): The NBCC further encouraged all the families to devote an hour of united prayers with other Baptists in the State to pray for the world, the nation, the State, leaders, health care workers, the community and families.

Rev Keyho also accorded praise to God for the vaccines that have been developed to fight against COVID-19 and requested church leaders to encourage all eligible members to get vaccinated at the earliest, while stating that “they do not commit a sin by getting the vaccines.”
