Kohima, March 14 (MExN): The National Cadet Corps (NCC), Nagaland will organise its first-ever festival and alumni meet on March 17 at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma in Kohima district.
The initiative is aimed at promoting the development of Naga youth and is expected to bring together around 600 NCC cadets and alumni from across the state.
NCC in Nagaland comprises three Army units and one Air Force unit, with their Group Headquarters located in Kohima. All four units will jointly host the festival and alumni meet.
Several activities and events have been scheduled as part of the programme. Cadets of the NCC Senior Wing will conduct a continuity drill display to demonstrate their skills and discipline, while the NCC Junior Wing cadets will present a live band display.
The festival will also feature competitive sports and toughness competitions, including Iron Man, Iron Lady and arm wrestling contests.
The event is expected to provide a platform for NCC cadets and alumni to showcase their talents in various NCC-related activities as well as cultural performances.
Several state departments will also participate in the festival and organise awareness programmes focused on youth empowerment and skill development for Naga youth.
Eminent organisations such as the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will conduct workshops and awareness drives during the festival.
According to the PRO and spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen youth engagement and promote skill development among NCC cadets in Nagaland.
