Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): A National Cadet Corps (NCC) Unit (Half Troop JD/JW Army) was formally raised at Government High School (GHS) Sarbura under the aegis of 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC, marking a milestone for the institution.
Colonel Lovelesh Panghal, Commanding Officer of the battalion, attended the programme as the special guest. On arrival, he was received and felicitated by the newly selected cadets.
The programme was conducted by T. Shelitoli Ayemi, Graduate Teacher, while CTO R. Yiben Humtsoe delivered the introductory address. Humtsoe welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the benefits of establishing an NCC unit in the school, while expressing gratitude to the Commanding Officer for approving the unit and extending support.
An interaction-cum-briefing session followed, during which Colonel Panghal addressed the students on NCC activities and said that the establishment of the unit would open avenues for leadership development and opportunities for the cadets.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Moala Jamir, Assistant Headmaster, followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph.
The NCC unit is expected to contribute to discipline, leadership, and a sense of responsibility among students, while preparing them for future opportunities in national service.
