Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has expressed sorrow at the passing of Mayang Lima, a revered legal luminary and former principal District & Sessions Judge. In a statement, the council described Lima as a great leader and a dedicated public servant, extending its sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
Mayang Lima held several pivotal roles in the judiciary, including serving as the first Upa Lokayukta (anti-corruption ombudsman) of Nagaland, Registrar of the Guwahati High Court's Kohima Bench, and State Vigilance Commissioner.
Remembering him as a real son of the soil and a rare gem, the council stated that his legacy is one to be celebrated. “He had brought the power of his presence, his compassion and his position to some of the most vital humanitarian issues during his lifetime. We have all lost an icon,” the council stated.
NCD while mourning the loss with the family, prayed for strength and solace from the Almighty God for everyone affected during this difficult time.
National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland has mourned the sudden and tragic demise of Mayang Lima Pongen, former District & Sessions Judge and State Upa-Lokayukta, who passed away on October 4 at Jorhat.
The NPP in a press note said that Mayang Lima was a man of profound wisdom, humility, and integrity. A respected legal luminary and compassionate human being, he was admired for his ability to address complex issues with simplicity and empathy. His contributions to the judicial system and his sincere service to the people will be remembered with great respect and admiration. “His untimely demise is a great loss to the Naga society at large.”
The NPP State Unit, led by its President A Nyamnyei Konyak, and colleagues, on behalf of the party, extend their condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that the Almighty grant them comfort and strength during this time of sorrow, and may the departed soul rest in eternal peace.
