Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): Setting the tone of the NCP party’s intention to emerge as “king maker” in the forthcoming 2013 state assembly election, Nagaland State NCP president, Neiba Ndang, today said that Nagas have an opportunity to choose a third front in the form of NCP, which is a “national party with a regional mindset.”
Addressing party workers on the occasion of the 13th foundation day celebration of NCP at the party headquarter in Dimapur, the state NCP president said that in Nagaland’s election history, the tussle has always been between the regional party and the national Congress party. “It is an opportunity for Nagas to have an option of choosing from a third party and I strongly believe that NCP is that option, which will be like new wine in a new bottle rather that old wine in new bottle”, Ndang said.
Ndang said that besides the NCP’s manifesto of “Peace, development and progress”, the party would be contesting the assembly election with the slogan of “change” as “we need a change in Nagaland and badly in need of a new political party to build a new Nagaland.” If in power, Ndang assured that the party would provide good and stable governance which is development-oriented, transparent and corruption free.
Reminding party workers on the challenging task ahead, the state NCP president called upon party workers to work with dedication so that the party can reap the benefits of their labour.
Ndang also reiterated state NCP’s support to the ongoing “Indo-Naga” peace talks and urged all national political parties in Nagaland to support the cause jointly by apprising their respective central party leaders.
Former Transport minister and state NCP advisor, Imtilemba Sangtam, in his address expressed happiness that the NCP has brought different Naga tribes together under one umbrella to share ideas and political strategies for the people of Nagaland in general. He advised party workers to work with renewed spirit to bring about political change in the state.
State NCP vice president, Hotongse Sangtam, expressed confidence that NCP would emerge as a force to be reckoned with in the 2013 election as people are fed up with DAN governance handling of “law and order” and shoddy development activities. He said the main reason of Eastern Naga People’s Organization (ENPO) demand for a separate state was because of neglect of backward districts.
State NCP mahila secretary, Alemla, urged party workers to introspect and ask themselves “what will be my contribution and what can I do for the party” in the next assembly election. President, Nagaland unit of Nationalist Students’ Congress, Chonben Yanthan, assured that the NCP arty workers, especially the youths, would continue to work energetically to get a chance to prove to the people that NCP is for “development, peace and for better condition of our people.”
Other party workers including kissan cell president also spoke on the occasion. Earlier State NCP general secretary, Miathou Krose delivered welcome address and general secretary, Chini Magh, proposed vote of thanks in the programme chaired by general secretary, state NCP, Munthin Newmai.
