NCP yet to decide on support to Rio

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the Nationalist Congress Party today refuted the statement published in local dailies on February 15, which had claimed that the party was extending support to DAN consensus candidate, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

A press note from NCP Nagaland Vice President TL Samdok informed that state officials of the NCP had conducted a meeting, where matters concerning the LS polls were discussed and later forwarded the issue to the central office for further consultation. “It is not a question of NCP supporting or not supporting a non NCP candidate but since the party is in consultation, the party is yet to arrive to a final decision,” stated the NCP press note.

It further directed that “no party member or functionary shall have any authoritative initiative personally to approach the media or issue any press releases without the consent or knowledge of the state NCP office.” It decreed that “any member/functionary failing to adhere to the given directive shall have to undergo disciplinary actions as deemed fit.”
