NDPP installs new office bearers of 27 Mokokchung Town A/C

MOKOKCHUNG, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Friday installed the newly elected office bearers of the 27 Mokokchung Town Assembly Constituency (A/C) and its five unit offices for the 2024–2027 tenure at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, Imkongmeren Sports Complex here.

The oath-taking ceremony was officiated by Repameren, President of NDPP Mokokchung Region. Altogether 397 party members from Kumlong, Mongsenbai, Kichutip, Salangtem and Aongza wards took the oath and pledge.

Addressing the gathering, Rural Development & SIRD Minister Metsubo Jamir called upon the office bearers to uphold the values and vision of the NDPP. “Your responsibility is not only to the party but also to the people you serve,” he said.

Jamir, who represents the constituency, said the large number of office bearers was a “big strength” for the party but cautioned that members must remain united. “When we work, our responsibility is very important for the party to grow. But if members give trouble, then it will be big trouble,” he remarked.

He acknowledged the contributions of past leaders and urged the members to ensure growth in all 10 constituencies of Mokokchung district, which has remained a strong support base for the NDPP. With elections approaching, he stressed unity across the seven constituencies where the party is in power, saying, “This team will face the election.”

The minister also highlighted the recent medical camp organised by the constituency’s youth organisation, calling it an “eye-opener” as it benefitted those unable to afford treatment outside. “I realised that people should be treated with love and not for votes,” he added.

Jamir further inducted 100 youths from Mokokchung Town for training and placement in hotel management under a programme supported by Honda India Foundation CSR. He said the initiative, envisioned for his constituency, offered global opportunities with 100% placement in Japan, Dubai and other hospitality hubs.

Earlier, the programme saw speeches by Marchizüng, Vice President of the NDPP Central Executive Board, and was chaired by Meyila Jamir, President of the Women’s Organisation of the 27th A/C. The welcome address was delivered by C Tia Longkumer, President of the A/C, while Temsuwati, General Secretary of the Youth Organisation, proposed the vote of thanks. Prayers were offered by Imtioshi, President of Kichutip Unit, and R. Amongla, Treasurer of the Women’s Organisation.

Later in the day, Jamir attended as Guest of Honour at the 5th Football Tournament-cum-Penalty Shootout organised by the 27 Mokokchung Town A/C Youth Organisation.
